Counseling, PTSD Treatment

Lauren Auer, LCPC

It is an incredible privilege to be trusted with the stories of brave souls as they work through some of the most difficult parts of life.

In therapy, I will meet you where you are, and get a sense for where you would prefer to be. My approach is not “one size fits all.” I strive to get a full picture of how each of my clients experience their roadblocks and will work with them to think outside the box, approach things from various viewpoints, and expand their capacity to reclaim their positive control. Therapy should be effective and enjoyable.

My area of expertise is centered in trauma. Trauma comes in many forms including medical trauma, interpersonal trauma, religious trauma, abuse, complicated grief, preverbal trauma, and complex long-term trauma.

I also have experience working with anxiety and panic, difficult life transitions, shame and self-worth, postpartum difficulties, and phobias. I am trained in EMDR and certified in Brainspotting and hold certifications in telehealth interventions and a certification in compassion fatigue.

I have training in Complex PTSD, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Polyvagal Therapies, and somatic processing.

Before opening my own private practice I worked in a variety of therapeutic settings that focused on traumatic abuse therapy. I have served as a Clinical Director of a rape crisis agency which allowed me to supervise a staff of eleven therapists and interns.

Gary Chatham, M.A.

Hi, I’m Gary Chatham.  Maybe you have been to counselors before who just listen to you, and don’t say much. I am NOT that kind! I work with my clients to not just DEAL with issues, but work THROUGH them, and transform their lives.

I currently have a private practice, with offices in Peoria and Chillicothe, Illinois. I also help clients from anywhere through secure video appointments.

I have previously worked at a community counseling agency, and have taught psychology at two community colleges. In addition, I also have experience in a university counseling center, and a dual diagnosis inpatient unit – addictions and personality disorders.

I am passionate about helping my clients gain clarity, and create healing in their lives. I create a safe space for my clients to share, and work through issues with me. These issues could involve relationships, trauma, grief, PTSD, or the emotional effects of chronic illness.

By helping you release patterns that do not serve you, I can assist you in creating more inner freedom. Then, this inner healing allows you to start creating your life the way you desire it.
